Title: Site Visit: University of Edinburgh Informatics Forum, Potterrow
This site visit proved extremely popular and was fully booked. 22 members and guests were taken on a tour of the Informatics Forum building by John Miller of Bennetts Associates Architects. John started the evening by giving us a presentation about the history and design of the building. We then had a full tour, with John and his colleague Sarah Bangham on hand to answer questions.
The evening ended with a networking buffet at Bennetts Associates’ offices – a perfect opportunity to network in a relaxed atmosphere.
Many thanks to John and Sarah at Bennetts for a fabulous evening.
Feedback from attendees:
“We all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was a fantastic opportunity to be shown round such an impressive building, and also get a nosey in Bennett’s office!”
“Thanks for organising another great event.”
“On behalf of the whole team, I would like thank you for organizing such an interesting and enjoyable evening with tour of the Informatics building. It is a real treat to not only get access to a building of this importance but to hear the thinking and rationale behind it from the architects, and learn what has worked well and not so well along the way, a very inspiring project that is looking forward to the future of Edinburgh.”
“Just a note to say what a fantastic site visit this week. The presentation from John Miller was pitched at exactly the right level for architects and non-Architects(!) and gave a lot of valuable background information on the design and brief requirements. As ever, my colleagues were very impressed with the organisation behind the event, and thank you for a very successful event.”
