Title: Site Visit report - CLARENCE DOCK

Clarence Dock is described as “Leeds most exciting new 1.2 million sq ft waterside destination” and earlier this year, it also won the award for Best Commercial Development at the Yorkshire Property Awards.

On the 18th June 2008, Buro Happold and CareyJones co-hosted the WiP Clarence Dock site tour and lunch. Variety and experience made an interesting event with talks by Andy Vaughn, Dave Beck and June Atkinson from Buro Happold and John Balman from Carey Jones. The speakers took the group around the site, pausing at points of interest to explain the background to the project, details of each of the blocks and how the architects and engineers added value for the client. The group then retired to the marketing suite at Clarence Dock for a buffet and networking. One WiP attendee commented that it was interesting to be shown around a site that she passes every day but wouldn’t have otherwise had a chance to hear about the development.

Demand was high with restricted numbers limiting attendees to near 60 and the following organisations being represented on the day: Aedas Architects, ASDA, Bank Of Scotland, Bowman Riley Architects, Claremont Group Interiors Ltd, Clarion Solicitors, Cyril Sweett, DLA Piper, Drivers Jonas, Fox Hayes LLP, Gillespies LLP, Harris Partnership, Homefinder UK, Irwin Mitchell, JMP Consultants Ltd, Jones Lang LaSalle, Komfort Workspace, Lambert Smith Hampton, Last Cawthra Feather, Lunn Ventures Group Ltd, New Image Interiors, Schofield Sweeny, Stace LLP, titlesolv.com, Turley Associates, Turner & Townsend plc, Volker Stevin Ltd, Wates Interiors, Watts Group PLC, Work Interiors.
