Title: New Branch Chairnman looks forward to another successful year for Central Scotland Branch
New Branch Chairman predicts another record year for Women in Property
Ann MacLean was recently appointed as the new Chairman of the Central Scotland Branch and is confident that 2005 will be another successful year for Women in Property.
Ann, who takes over the position from Brenda Jones, is an Associate with Yeoman McAllister Architects & Designers in Edinburgh and is working mainly on private housing and leisure projects. She is a qualified Architect and has worked in private practice for 18 years, gaining extensive experience working with clients from a variety of business sectors.
Commenting on her appointment, Ann said: ‘2004 was a tremendously successful year. Our membership in Central Scotland doubled, and the increasing diversity of companies within the branch provides excellent opportunities for networking. The events in the past 12 months have attracted over 1000 people and we are confident that this year will be another record year for us. We have an excellent range of activities planned for the coming year, including site visits, CPD seminars and networking events, culminating with the Annual Dinner in Edinburgh in March 2006.’
Women in Property is a unique, national organisation which seeks to promote the role of women in the property and construction industry. With 1,200 members throughout the UK, drawn from all disciplines within the industry, the Association provides a dynamic forum for the professional development of women in what is traditionally seen as a male dominated field.
Ann MacLean noted, ‘Women are still greatly under-represented in the industry and this is something that Women in Property are trying to redress. We have close links with schools and colleges and advise young women on the career choices open to them within the property and construction sectors. We also run a national mentoring scheme which provides support for professionals already working in the industry’.
As Chairman, Ann will be responsible for raising the profile of the organisation and ensuring that it continues to be a valuable source of both professional and personal development to its members.
Ann’s position as Chairman will run from March 2005 until March 2006.
