Title: Lunchtime Seminar - Talk by Jim Claydon, President of the Royal Town Planning Institute
Jim Claydon, the newly elected President of the Royal Town Planning Institute, and Technical Director of Terence O’Rourke Planning Consultants based in Bath, gave a stimulating talk about his vision for “Positive Planning” at our launch event in Bath, held in the 1805 Club at the Theatre Royal.
Jim addressed issues affecting Town Planning from the proposed Planning Gain Supplement to flooding and other environmental risks; the need for an independent planning commission to oversee strategic planning issues such as national infrastructure requirements and provide much needed resource to local teams struggling with issues arising from large scale regeneration projects.
"Those involved in property face numerous challenges from climate change to housing provision and good town planning is at the heart of the solutions to many of these problems" Jim concluded.
The talk was very well attended and has led to increased interest in future Bath-based events. A very positive article about the event was published in the Bath Chronicle business pages on 15 March.
