Devon & Cornwall Satellite Branch
Welcome to the home page of Devon & Cornwall Satellite of Women in Property.
The Devon & Cornwall Satellite of Women in Property was established in October 2004 and has since gone from strength to strength.
The satellite branch now organises regular networking lunches, including themed events with topical speakers in both Exeter and Plymouth which are popular and well attended.
In 2007 the satellite also organised its first networking lunch in Truro which was extremely popular. In 2008 we will, therefore, be arranging further events for Cornwall as well as extending our reach to Taunton which otherwise falls a little too far from Exeter and Bristol to make lunch time networking in either of those locations realistic.
2007 was a strong year for the Devon and Cornwall satellite which led the way in the South West organising the 20th Birthday Student Awards designed to reward and encourage female students studying property related subjects such as construction and architecture. The satellite branch also hosted the RICS “Raising the Ratio” debate which looked at the number of women working and returning to work as surveyors.
In addition to our networking lunches we also enjoyed a number of opportunities to relax and get to know one another better (the key to all good networking) at fun events such as a pamper event and a trip to the Plymouth national firework championships display. Both events were well received and will be repeated in 2008.
For those of you who have not attended a Women in Property event before, we would be pleased to welcome you as a guest at one of our forthcoming events. In 2008, as well as our regular networking lunches, our planned events include a guided tour of a National Trust property in Cornwall, a ‘Shakespeare in the Gardens’ theatre trip, as well as a talk from Francis Clark Accountants on tax issues affecting property in the autumn.
If you are a member and you wish to present a talk at one of our networking lunches, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to getting to know you all better and to meeting new members in 2008.
